Sacro’s Children’s Service is a voluntary service for the children of men who are (or will be) attending Sacro’s Domestic Abuse Groupwork Programme (DAGP).
The service offers support, safety planning, advice and advocacy on behalf of children whose fathers have been convicted of a domestic abuse offence and who are attending, or are about to attend, the Sacro Domestic Abuse Groupwork Programme.
The service operates mainly on the basis of one-to-one support for the children in a secure setting. This is often in the family home, but can also include community-based settings. Siblings can be seen together if appropriate and mothers can be present, again if appropriate.
The service is aimed at those children, up to the age of 16 years, whose fathers have been convicted of a domestic abuse offence and who are attending or due to attend the Sacro Domestic Abuse Groupwork Programme.
All of the children of men attending or who are about to attend the Sacro Domestic Abuse Groupwork Programme are contacted by the service and offered the opportunity to meet with the Children’s Worker and given an explanation of what the service can offer to them. Contact with the service thereafter is voluntary.
