Sacro’s Women’s Service is a voluntary service for the partners or ex-partners of men who are (or will be) attending Sacro’s Domestic Abuse Groupwork Programme (DAGP).
The service complements the work of the DAGP by offering a dedicated Women’s Services Worker to provide confidential support, advice and assistance to female partners or ex-partners.
It can include providing information about the programme itself or facilitating contact with other agencies for advice on dealing with housing, solicitors etc.
The Women’s Services Worker can arrange planned visits in the woman’s own home or, if preferred, at an alternative venue. Contact can also be maintained by telephone or letter or via a support group.
Letters are sent to women informing them of the various stages of the DAGP that their partner or ex-partner is attending. This information details: whether their partner or ex-partner attends sessions or not; suspension from the group or whether or not the man completes the group sessions. Women are also informed if information came to light that we believed put them at risk.
The service provides voluntary support to women whose partner or ex-partner is attending the DAGP.
The service is routinely offered to women with partners or ex-partners attending the DAGP. Sacro’s Women’s Services Worker offers this service to women as soon as possible after their partner or ex-partner has been convicted of a domestic abuse or related offence.
