Sacro’s Housing Support Service helps those released from prison or secure hospital to gain the independence they need to live in their own home and play a more active and positive part in the community
The service helps people to move on to successful independent living in their own home following release from prison. It enhances social work supervision of offenders in the community, by providing as much guidance and support as is required.
Support can be as basic as advice on preparing food and general housekeeping, to guidance with relationships or moving house.
On accessing the service, an initial meeting will take place to establish the areas and level of support required. A formal agreement will be drawn up and a Sacro Support Worker allocated to the service user. An individual support plan will be agreed to record the support received and detail the goals set by the user.
A series of regular visits, reviews and assessment will follow until it is decided that all goals have been achieved and support is no longer required.
The service is available to individual prisoners on release who are moving back to their own home.
Referrals are made to Sacro by the social work department or a prison liaison officer. Sacro workers will then assess the case and decide whether it can provide the support required.
