Progress2Work

Progress2Work is provided across the city of Edinburgh in partnership with Apex Scotland, Jobcentre Plus and Phoenix-Futures.

What does the service offer?

Progress2Work is one of several measures that has been introduced to help those with the greatest disadvantage in the labour market.

How does the service work?

Clients will have an employment worker who will help build their commitment and motivation to return to work or training. The employment worker will make an assessment of their employment and drug-related history and other factors which might impact on their prospects of finding and sustaining employment or training. Help to tackle other problems likely to cause barriers, such as housing, benefits or debt will also be given to clients. Once the client has moved into work or training, the worker will keep in close contact with them to anticipate and assist with any problems that may cause drop out or relapse.

Who is the service aimed at?

Progress2Work provides support for individuals who have made sufficient progress in their recovery to be drug-free or stabilised but whose history of drug use is likely to be a significant factor in preventing them from getting or keeping work.

How is the service accessed?

The service can be accessed directly through any other drug agency by phoning the Lothian Unit to make a referral. Employment Development Advisors are based within Leith, Highriggs, and Westerhailes Jobcentre Plus offices. Referrals can be made directly from advisors within the Jobcentre should they have any clients with drug issues.

Progress2Work are based within the Sacro office on a Tuesday morning from 9.30am until 1.00pm.
