A Restorative Acceptable Behaviour Contract is a voluntary written agreement which gives young people the opportunity to formally commit to improving their behaviour.
By signing the RABC, young people, their familes and any people who have agreed to offer support to the young person, commit to improving a situation involving anti-social behaviour. The young person involved would formally agree to improve their behaviour and to actively use the support services offered to them to do so.
Introduced in 2005, RABCs follow the principle of minimum intervention (Children (Scotland) Act, 1995), whereby, if the young person is referred to Sacro, an appropriate level of support will be offered.
Sacro’s Youth Justice Services will meet with the young person involved, their family and any other agencies who can offer community anchors and activities. The participants are encouraged to come up with their own solutions to address the behaviour and an agreement is drawn up and signed by all parties.
The service works with anyone between the ages of 8 and 17 who has been identified in their area as behaving in an anti-social way.
Referrals are welcome from agencies with a concern about anti-social behaviour including the police, social workers or council housing departments.
