Sacro recognises that schools have a key role in developing children and young people’s sense of citizenship – helping them to learn how to manage conflict and to take responsibility for individual behaviour. In recent years we have been working with schools in many parts of Scotland to promote these aims. Our Community Mediation and Restorative Youth Justice services raise awareness in schools about Sacro services and how these can assist schools, as well as delivering training for staff and pupils.
Sacro is currently running a pilot programme with Falkirk Council, implementing a model whole-school approach to relationship building and conflict management. This experience, along with our work in many other local authorities, places Sacro in a key position to support Scottish schools in implementing a range of innovative approaches.
In summary, Sacro can offer:
- Direct service delivery to school communities (Community Mediation and Restorative Youth Justice work)
- Tailored consultancy and planning services for a whole-school approach to building positive relationships and a safe learning environment
- Comprehensive training and support in implementing Peer Mediation
- Staff and pupil training sessions (conflict resolution, restorative justice interventions, mediation skills, etc).
Some of these services are available nationally and others are delivered through our local service teams. If you would like more information about how Sacro might support your school or local authority, please contact:
