Street Mediation Service

Sacro’s Street Mediation Service aims to facilitate dialogue, build bridges and resolve disputes between groups of young people and the wider community.

What does the service offer?

The Street Mediation Service provides an intergenerational mediation service to assist dialogue and build bridges between young people and other sectors of the community. Through this method, it hopes to help communities work together to put in place workable and achievable agreements to enhance the quality of life for all its members.

How does the service work?

Sacro Street Mediators liaise closely with other project partners to identify areas of conflict between young people and other sectors of the community. Once an area of conflict has been identified they will work with everyone involved to identify possible agreed solutions and to increase mutual understanding.

Once all the interested parties involved have been contacted and given the chance to have their say, the mediators will then try and establish representative groups from all sectors of the community to meet and talk together to try and resolve any conflict which may exist, raise levels of understanding and facilitate agreements aimed at making life less stressful for everyone involved.

Who is the service aimed at?

The service is provided to reduce conflict between groups of young people and the community they live in.

How is the service accessed?

Cases are identified through liaison with the local council and the police.
