Antisocial Behaviour Reduction: Scoping Project

The Scottish Government Aspiring Communities Fund (ACF) has granted Sacro funding to undertake a Community Scoping Project (The Project) in relation to the impact of antisocial behaviour by young people aged 16 to 21 on communities in Dumfries and Annan.

The Project—supported by the Dumfries and Galloway Community Planning Partnership—will scope the need for services for young people aged 16-21 involved in antisocial and/or offending behaviours. These young people are often not engaged with or have failed to engage with any other agencies and are in need of support.

The scoping activity will engage and work with local groups, residents and appropriate agencies to identify possible solutions and support their implementation. To achieve this there will be a range of activities including:

  • community conversation events
  • outreach work with partners to get the views of young people
  • engagement with community based groups and voluntary groups
  • engagement with representative groups
  • discussions with strategic partners (Police, Community Safety etc.)
  • pop up events in local areas (shopping centres etc.)

The Scoping Project will also provide an opportunity for local groups, residents and partners to work with Sacro on an agreed proposed service provision that will be the basis of a Stage 2 funding submission to the Scottish Government Aspiring Communities Fund.

When will this take place?

The Scoping Project will be run in Dumfries and Annan from December 2017 to March 2018. This will involve engagement and consultation with representative groups and individuals in communities within Dumfries and Annan, along with a number of open events that will be advertised.
