Sessional Women’s Worker - *Female Only - Caledonian Women’s Service

Sacro in partnership with the Forth Valley local Authorities deliver a Domestic Abuse service (The Caledonian System) for men convicted of domestic abuse related offences with associated support services for their families. The aim of the service is to give men the opportunity to change and to promote the safety and wellbeing of their partners /ex-partners and children.

The postholder would be required to meet with women whose partners/ex-partners are being assessed for, or are attending, the groupwork programme, with a view to providing information, support, and appropriate safety planning to the women. This will in most cases involve working closely with them in a variety of settings including their own homes.

Applicants are required to have a working knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse and will involve delivering a service tailored to the needs of women surviving domestic abuse. Experience of working in this area, the ability to work on one’s own initiative and to work in partnership is desirable. Good communication and organisational skills are required as well as risk assessment and management skills.

Applicants should be educated to at least a HNC level or hold a SVQ 3 in a relevant subject, such as Social Care.

The successful candidate will be required to attend specialist Caledonian training before undertaking this role.

Due to the current Covid-19 situation, the post holder will initially work from home. Once restrictions are lifted and it is deemed safe to work in the community, the postholder will work across the Forth Valley area with statutory and non-statutory agencies. They will also receive specialist training and ongoing supervision for this role. The post requires hours to be worked flexibly and may include some evening work.
