Following the announcement to temporarily suspend the Scottish Prison Service’s Throughcare Support Service on 13 September, the Shine Public Social Partnership is responding to work with women released from short-term prison sentences of up to four years who were previously supported by the Scottish Prison Service.

Shine is a Public Social Partnership led by Sacro with third sector partners: Wise Group, Apex, Access to Industry, Turning Point Scotland, Barnardos, Circle and Venture Trust, supported by Scottish Government, Scottish Prison Service and Social Work Scotland.

Fearless, the national support service for survivors of domestic abuse in Scotland has launched a new website. The site www.fearless.scot offers information and resources on the service and allows users to make a referral online. 

The service works with survivors of domestic abuse over 16 years old of all races, religions, beliefs, abilities, gender identities, sexes or sexual orientations.

An independent evaluation of the Scottish Government's Reducing Reoffending Change Fund (RRCF) has concluded that "mentoring is an effective approach which helps mentees to learn and implement constructive, non-criminal ways of addressing problems in their lives and to reduce risk factors associated with offending behaviour, and that there is a strong case for the continuation and expansion of mentoring services".

A new approach to supporting the hidden victims of domestic abuse in Scotland has today (20 March) received a cash boost of £869,000 from the Big Lottery Fund.

Sacro will roll out the FearLess project in 18 of Scotland’s local authorities combining a domestic abuse helpline with intensive one to one support and mentoring. This will include a range of practical and emotional support including help with accommodation, personal finances, creating a personal safety plan, education, training and employment.

Evaluation of Shine Mentoring Service
