An independent evaluation of the Scottish Government's Reducing Reoffending Change Fund (RRCF) has concluded that "mentoring is an effective approach which helps mentees to learn and implement constructive, non-criminal ways of addressing problems in their lives and to reduce risk factors associated with offending behaviour, and that there is a strong case for the continuation and expansion of mentoring services".

First Minister announces funding for mentoring projects

First Minister announces financial package to help reoffenders.

First Minister Alex Salmond has announced a funding package of up to £8 million for organisations delivering mentoring support to offenders.

The First Minister made the announcement after opening the new offices of Glasgow-based Includem, one of six projects that will benefit from the Reducing Reoffending Change Fund (RRCF) over 2015-2017.

Helen began looking for volunteering opportunities after retiring, having worked for 23 years in the addictions sector. She worked for five years at Barlinnie prison in the first statutory addiction service within a penal establishment in Europe and was instrumental in setting up an addiction service in Shotts prison. Helen also worked for more than 20 years with North Lanarkshire Council.
