John Scott QC
John Scott became a qualified solicitor in 1987 and has been a partner in Capital Defence Lawyers, Leith since 1991. He became a Solicitor-advocate (criminal only) in 2001 and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2011.
John holds the position of Vice-President (Crime) of the Society of Solicitor Advocates and has been Convenor of Howard League for Penal Reform in Scotland since 2006. He was also Chair of the Scottish Human Rights Centre (formerly the Scottish Council for Civil Liberties) from 1997 until it closed in 2005.
