School’s Out Moray is a new, Moray-wide LGBTQI service run by Sacro for young people and those who work with them. Our key aim is to bring together the various strands of support available for LGBTQI people in the Moray area, as well as plugging the gaps in service provision for young LGBTQI people within Moray.

Our services include:

  • Free-to-access LGBTQI awareness training for teaching staff and youth workers
  • One-to-one support with young LGBTQI people
  • One-to-one advice and assistance for any individual teacher or youth worker in Moray looking to support a young LGBTQI person
  • Information and advice on the Gender Recognition Act (Scotland) and what that may mean for schools and individuals when published.

The service is run by Nikki Darling, who as well as working for Sacro for nearly eight years, has also been the Youth and Community Development Officer for Inverness and Highland with LGBT Youth Scotland for the same amount of time. An Elgin native, Nikki is passionate about ensuring that the needs of young LGBTQI people are met in the area and that young folk are not left behind due to living in a smaller community.

For more information on this project or to access any of the services please contact Nikki on ndarling@sacro.org.uk

School's Out is funded by Sacro from the organisation's Innovation Fund, set up last year to encourage and support staff in bringing their original ideas to fruition. The fund is made possible by the generous donations received from individuals and groups for which we are extremely grateful. Help us to continue supporting people across Scotland by making a donation. Thank you.
